Don PX Gran Reserva
Our beginnings date back to 1844, when the family founded a small winery in an old mill known as La Noria, at the foot of the Aguilar de la Frontera Castle. At that time, the wine was made in a rudimentary way and was sold in the family tavern.
In 1922, after several generations, José María Toro Albalá acquired and restored the town's old power plant with the idea of moving the winery and storing wines so that they would age for years and become true oenological jewels. Thus, Bodegas Toro Albalá was established, and a true feat began at that time and a whole philosophy that we have preserved throughout time. With the generational change in the sixties, Antonio Sánchez gave an important boost to the winery in search of differentiation and to express its own personality, betting on the vintage system and obtaining unmistakable wines. Today, Bodegas Toro Albalá is considered one of the 100 Spanish Gold Bodegas and is found on the best tables around the world.
After harvesting the grapes from mid-August, sunbathing is carried out, laying the grapes in the sun in baskets for a period of time between 7 and 9 days, almost three kilos of grapes being needed to obtain one liter of wine. . Once pressed, it is alcoholized up to 9% vol. and remains in a stainless steel tank for 12 months. After this time, it is alcoholized up to 17% vol. and put into American oak casks in oxidative aging for 20 years.
